Double click on the file "mac_fonts.sea" and extract the contents. You will find the fonts inside of the folder called "mac_fonts Folder". If you have System 7 through System 9, do not open the System Folder by double-clicking on it, but simply drop it over your system folder icon.
Ka Ho‘ouka a Ho‘ohana ‘ana i ka Papa Pihi HI (‘ōnaehana 7-9 wale nō)
Using the Papa Pihi HI (System 7-9 only)
There is also a keyboard file called Papa Pihi "HI" in the archive. If you have System 7 through System 9, do not open the System Folder by double-clicking on it, but simply drop it over your system folder icon.
Once you've installed the Papa Pihi "HI" by dragging it into your system folder, go to your control panels and select "Keyboard". You should see the US, US System 6, and the Papa Pihi "HI keyboards. Select the Papa Pihi "HI" by clicking on its icon, and close the control panel. To generate the Hawaiian diacriticals open your word processor or text editor and select one of the HI fonts from the fonts menu. To generate the kahakō simply hold down the option key while typing a vowel. To get the upper case vowel hold down the control key while typing the vowel. If you have an older Mac keyboard that does not have a control key, hold down both the option and shift keys while typing the vowel.
With the Papa Pihi "HI" you simply type the apostrophe key to generate the ‘okina. If you want the plain, English apostrophe, hold down the option key while pressing the apostrophe key.
